Yes, the partial government shutdown has occurred.
Let’s hope President Trump does not flinch or blink on this. For the Democrats it is not about safety or sane policy, but handing Trump a defeat and thumbing their noses at voters who elected a president to secure borders.
Current U.S. government spending is $4.407 trillion. That’s the federal budget for the fiscal year 2019 (October 1, 2018, to September 30, 2019). It’s 21 percent of the gross domestic product. Source That is 4.4 million x one million dollar$$$. That is $ 12.7 Billion Dollars a day, 365 days of the year. The $ 5.7 Billion President Trump is asking for is about 11 hours of one day of Federal spending to cut down on $135 Billion spent on illegals each year. In the scope of the Federal budget, it truly is insignificant – about 1/10th of 1%.
The United States (Obama) was spending about $100 billion a year on military operations in Afghanistan. Trump’s Agencies Spent $11 Billion in one week in a Year-End Spending Spree to not return unused money to the treasury.
$ 5.7 B is about $ 47.50 per household. Source
Why the shutdown? Because Democrats in the Senate will not agree to pay $ 5.7 Billion ONE TIME to build the wall!… about 4% to of the $ 135 Billion ANNUAL (one year’s) costs to taxpayers for illegals! How stupid and mean spirited is that?
Do they not care about America’s legals – US?
Main Stream Media melts down with parroted talking points – clueless or devious?
Why are the Feds spending Billions – even Trillion$ – on non-essential services?
At the federal, state, and local levels, taxpayers shell out approximately $134.9 billion to cover the costs incurred by the presence of more than 12.5 million illegal aliens, and about 4.2 million citizen children of illegal aliens. That amounts to a tax burden of approximately $8,075 per illegal alien family member and a total of $115,894,597,664. The total cost of illegal immigration to U.S. taxpayers is both staggering and crippling. In 2013, FAIR estimated the total cost to be approximately $113 billion. So, in under four years, the cost has risen nearly $3 billion. This is a disturbing and unsustainable trend. The sections linked below will break down and further explain these numbers at the federal, state, and local levels.
“Thank you to our GREAT Republican Members of Congress for your VOTE to fund Border Security and the Wall,” Trump wrote about the vote, in which House Republicans passed the bill with a 217-185 vote.
Trump reminded future Speaker Nancy Pelosi that she mistakenly claimed last week that a bill with more border security funding would not pass the House.
“You will not win,” Pelosi said during a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office. “The fact is you do not have the votes in the House.”
Trump replied, “Nancy, I do.”
The results proved Pelosi wrong by a 32 vote majority.
“Nancy does not have to apologize,” Trump wrote. “All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!”….. “[M]any have said that the enthusiasm was greater than they have ever seen before,” he wrote. “So proud of you all. Now on to the Senate!”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer defied the victory in the House, insisting that it had no chance of passing in the Senate. (Thanks, Jim) MORE
