HANCOCK — A new organization for conservative thinkers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has been created under the auspices of the Michigan Conservative Union (MCU) and Mi-CPAC.
The UP-Conservative Political Action Committee is an initiative founded by Mary Sears of Hancock, who is also the vice-president of the Michigan Conservative Union.
“Few people in the U.P. intentionally vote away their rights; our goal is to identify and support individuals seeking office who will adamantly support their oath-of-office and the legacy of the Constitution for the United States and the State of Michigan,” she said. “While cultural values sway in the winds of visceral dissent, most citizens of the U.P. hold onto their value-based traditions, which includes gun ownership, recreational activities, mining, and logging; generally living as true ecologically, morally, and fiscally responsible citizens. Our goal is to protect those traditions for us and all of our future generations.”
The charter 2018 UP-CPAC Conference will be held at the Highland Golf Course, west of Escanaba on US 2 & 41 on June 8 and 9. Registration is required and those wishing to attend may obtain event tickets or more information about the UP-CPAC Conference on-line through upcpac.org.
The two-day event will begin on Friday evening with a VIP meet-and-greet, followed by dinner and a presentation by Publius Huldah on the proposed Convention of States. Candidates seeking reelection or those who are vying for a political office for the first time will conclude the evening with their brief campaign speeches.
Saturday will be highlighted by Midwest conservative leaders, including Dave Agema of Top Gun Politics, MCU Chairman Norm Hughes, Chief Thought Leader for the Center for Political Leadership Dr. Terri McCormick-Dawson, President and CEO of Salt & Light Global Professor William Wagner, Michigan Chairman of the Taxpayers/Constitution Party William Mohr, Tom DeWeese of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Author Judge Michael Warren: America’s Survival Guide – How to Stop America’s Impending Suicide by Reclaiming Our First Principles and History.
Congressman Jack Bergman is also scheduled to speak on the current affairs affecting his office. The event will be emceed by Keith LaCosse, former councilman and Republican 1st District Committee member.
